With so many companies and items to pick from in the Bowling Industry, which item do we get/need and why? How do we know if the person receiving the gift will even like it? Hopefully, since it is a gift, they appreciate the effort! What should we be listening for? Try to simplify the results to what you are in need of. Whether the person your buying the gift for is a First Time Bowler, Casual League Bowler, or a Tournament Bowler, there are plenty of options to choose from!
How do we know what to pick? The simple solution to start with would be color. Most everyone has a favorite color! So once we have narrowed down the color option, now what?
If you're in need of bowling balls, the next thing to do is start looking at the price. The higher the price, the more performance you will get out of the ball, and the opposite goes for cheaper balls: lower performance. So, if you're buying a gift for a first time bowler, you may want to start with the cheaper items. Not because you're cheap! Bowling balls have the same quality and durability whether you spend $50 on a ball or $150. The overall hook may vary in cost, $150 will hook a lot more than a $50 ball. If you hear this: "My ball does not hook at all," then you may want to start looking for mid- to high-performance bowling balls. What is their favorite brand? Sometimes they prefer Storm over Hammer or Brunswick over Track. Whichever the case may be, make sure you know which brand to start with as well. If they don't care, then you have lots to pick from! Also, just so you know, kids balls and spare/plastic balls are the same thing. They are not designed to hook; they just go straight down the lane.
What kind of bowling bag should you be looking for? That depends on the person that is using the bag. Most of the time you will be looking for rollers. How many bowling balls they have will determine which bag to get. If they have two balls and are looking to get a third ball, a 3-ball roller may be right up your alley. Most companies will have the same features. What if you do not want to spend that much money because the bag they have is working just fine but they need another spot for a ball? They need to have a roller bag, but the KR Joey is a great attachment that goes over the handle of roller bags.
If you are just unsure of what they may need for bowling equipment, a Gift Certificate will always work as well. Some bowlers will know what they want already, which may be the newest and latest ball released and that is okay! Just listen for the company name, for example; Storm, Brunswick, Ebonite, or MOTIV. After you hear the company name, listen for the name of the actual ball. All Day or All Night, both are from 900Global but are two totally different balls. So the actual name of the item helps the most. Know a color they like and it will greatly speed up time. Take the time to understand the game. You may always talk with the local Pro Shop in the bowling center to see if he/she has ideas for your bowler. Enjoy the game of Bowling and have a Great Holiday!
