Want one of the Amazing Clear Bowling Balls?

Bowling balls come in almost any color imaginable. They can be a single flat color, a swirl design looking similar to tie-dye, or a single color with a shimmering look.  A very popular type of bowling ball is the transparent, or clear, ball. Clear bowling balls are made in a fashion as to make the ball appear as though there is an object inside. Clear bowling balls can be quite compelling.

Inside each and every bowling ball is a core, which makes each ball different from the next. These cores are vigorously imbalanced so the ball stabilizes when it is rolling down the lane. Bowling ball cores are made with different densities as well.  Some cores are heavy and some balls are made with the weight more towards the cover of the ball. Center heavy balls are low RG and balls with the weight towards the cover are high RG. Low RG balls will spin more easily than high RG balls. RG stands for radius of gyration, which is the distance between the axis and the center of a rotating object. Some clear bowling balls do not have cores and cannot be used for every bowl.

If you want one of the amazing clear bowling balls with something small in it like a strawberry or a little skull so it looks like it is floating, you will only be able to use the ball to make spares. Clear bowling balls with a smaller object inside have no cores. If you want something bigger suspended in your ball you can see through the cover to the core. Different shaped objects result in different shaped cores. Different shaped cores cause the ball to act differently.

If you are an avid bowler you are going to have to choose your clear bowling ball based on how it rolls rather than how it looks. Even though the point of having a clear bowling ball is for its aesthetic appearance, if you have a ball that never knocks pins down you most likely will not like that ball for very long.
