Alot more hook than expected
This ball has a ton of back end on high friction house shot conditions. Retains energy and carries very well. Recommend this for any one looking for more length and energy on the house shot.

Great Ball
I’ve had this ball for about a month now and this ball is perfect. I’m a two finger high rpm bowler and the hook I get out of this ball is very readable and consistent. Really good on medium oil conditions.

Great Ball
I’m a 2 hander and like to play straight, this ball does just that. It is the first ball out of my bag at league and anywhere else I play. League average 184 (1st year bowling).
Recommended the ball to one of my teammates who also throws 2 handed, he ended up buying it and likes it a lot. It’s his go to ball as well.

Customer Questions & Answers | Reviews
Question:
do all balls have the same core no matter the weight
Have an answer to this question?
Answer:
The Storm Tropical Surge will have the same weight block from 12-16lbs. The 10 and 11 lbs do not have the same weight block though. These details are not the same for all bowling balls but it is true for every color of the Tropical Surge.

Question:
Looking for a ball with the least tendency to curve. Which ball would that be?
Have an answer to this question?
Answer:
This ball is rated as an entry performance ball so it will have a smaller hook potential and work mostly in lighter oil conditions. However, if you wanted a ball that goes straight you could look for a spare ball which would be the best option for a straight ball.

Question:
Does this ball have a big curve
Have an answer to this question?
Answer:
This ball is designed to not have a large hook potential. It was designed to work on lighter oil conditions and it has a decent backend hook if you use this in light oil. If you want a lot of hook you may have to look at an upper mid performance or high performance ball.

Question:
is this ball good for straight bowlers
Have an answer to this question?
Answer:
This ball is designed to be a hook ball for lighter oil conditions. It does not have a large hook potential but it does have hook potential. If you throw this ball straight, it will go straight but if you have any kind of spin on your release it will try to read that spin and will hook.

Question:
I have a hammer vibe thought it would be a good step down for the lanes are dry or transitioning. Sadly it hook a lot. Even with a pin up layout. Will the surge be less aggressive?
Have an answer to this question?
Answer:
Unfortunately the Surge would be able to same strength as the Vibe series. To go down you could try a urethane possibly or a reactive cover but with a very weak weight block. Here are some options we list for dry: https://www.bowling.com/shopping/all/bowling-balls/all?lane-conditions=75

Question:
Really torn between this and the Brunswick rhino. Which would you personally recommended more? I’ve been hooking for more than 6 months now and am looking for a step up from my current ball. I also bowl more on the right side.
Have an answer to this question?
Answer:
Both options are going to be very comparable so performance wise I could not suggest one of the other. You may see which one offers a color choice that you prefer. If there was something that distinguished one from the other pretty clearly then I would give those differences but they are so close in comparison that you really do not have a big difference.
